We want this to be the best possible experience for you, whether you have regular massage or this is your first ever.

The following questions have come up before, if you have any questions at all feel free to contact us, or ask your therapist at any stage during your booking

What types of massage do you provide?

All our therapists will tailor a session to suit the individual using a combination of massage techniques including relaxation, sports, deep tissue and neuromuscular therapy. If you require a therapist who specialises in one particular style please let us know at the time of booking.

*Please note that the service we provide is a non-sexual service and that any sexually suggestive remarks or advances shall result in an immediate termination of the session.

Where in Queenstown are you located?

Our Central Day Spa is at 2c Shotover st - just at the back of The Beadshop. We have a tranquil space & therapy room where you can have your treatment offering free carpark & pick up service if required. Otherwise you can have our traditional Mobile services.

How far in advance do we need to book?

The Mobile Massage Company prides itself on the fact that we can most often have a therapist to you within the hour. If you want to secure a booking in peak times (between 4pm and 7pm) we recommend booking in advance.

How often should I get a massage?

no just kidding, but wouldn’t it be great if we made the time and could afford it!

Our clientelle range from those who have weekly sessions to those who only ever have a massage when they are on holiday. Occasionally, we massage people who have never had a professional massage before.

If you have some acute aches and pains or an injury, two to three massages over a couple of weeks will be of great benefit to your recovery. It’s better to have a massage when you’re tight and sore, than waiting until you can hardly get out of bed. Otherwise, for general relaxation we recommend at least once a month to keep you aware of your body.

When should I not get a massage?

There aren’t many reasons why you cannot have some kind of massage, however there are medical conditions which may prevent or restrict massage. If you are unsure then please ask at the time of booking.

The therapist may need to modify the treatment to avoid an area where there is a risk of cross infection, or would cause you discomfort e.g. localised bruising.

Further advice should be sought if you have any of the following:

  • Contagious skin diseases e.g. scabies, ringworm, head lice, Impetigo, cold sores, conjunctivitis as there is a high risk of cross infection clients must not be treated.
  • Viral or fungal diseases e.g. Athlete’s foot
  • High Temperature/Fever
  • Abdominal or digestive complaints e.g. diarrhoea or hernia
  • Infectious diseases e.g. Flu, Measles, Mumps, TB, Scarlet Fever, Chicken Pox etc
  • Diabetes
  • Severe asthma or lung conditions
  • . A cardiac condition, high or low blood pressure
  • Immediately before or after surgery e.g hysterectomy or caesarean section
  • Cancer patients, except where medical clearance has been obtained
  • Broken Bones
  • Recent scar tissue
  • Non infectious skin disorders eczema, dermatitis
  • Sunburn/minor if the burn is localised then the area may be avoided
  • Insect bites - If bites are localised then the area may be avoided. Varicose Veins or Phlebitis
What should I do during my massage?

If your treatment is more for relaxation the therapist will look for your guidance initially to establish a good pressure for you to enjoy.

Then, please don’t feel you have to talk unless you are uncomfortable in any way. Focus on your breath and drift off and we will let you know when it’s time to turn over and when the massage is finished.

For sports, deep tissue and neuromuscular work we may at times be working close to that point of pleasure and pain and your regular feedback will help us to ensure you get the best out of your treatment.

With any treatment, some people like to talk, while others can fall asleep. We recommend you do what makes you feel comfortable and enjoy your massage.

Who does the massage?

We have a great international team of both male and female massage therapists. All are qualified and hold certificates/diplomas in massage or physiotherapy from many different countries including the UK, Canada, USA, Brazil, Czech Republic, Japan and New Zealand. We will in most cases always be able to send a female therapist unless it has been requested that a male therapist is preferred, and is subject to availability.

Do I have to listen to meditation, chanting or dolphin sounds?

No. You can if you like, however we have a variety of different playlists we think you will enjoy or you are more than welcome to supply your own favorite music. Or you can ask for silence.

Do I have to get completely undressed?

Once the table has been set up the therapist will leave the room while you disrobe/undress down to your underpants and cover yourself with the towel on the table. The same privacy is given at the end of your treatment. If you prefer to be fully clothed for your treatment, please let us know at the time of booking.

It’s your massage, so it’s important that you tell us if:

> You are too hot or too cold
> You need more work in a specific area
> You want more/less pressure at anytime
> You need to go to the toilet
> You need a tissue to blow your nose
> You want the music changed or louder/softer
